Can I get ChatGPT to recommend my shop?
Yes, you can. Keep your website open for AI to read, and write clear text that answers questions. This is called GEO.
AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity read and quote text from the internet when they build an answer. So if your website is open for AI to read and answers the questions customers are likely to ask in clear sentences, your shop can be included in their answers. This work is called GEO (generative engine optimization).
How to let AI read your website
- Don't block AI crawlers. Your robots.txt needs to allow names like GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Some security plugins block them by default.
- Write it as text. AI can't read information inside photos or videos either. Put your prices, opening hours, location and what you do in text.
- Add structured data. Include your shop name, address, phone number and FAQs in a machine-readable format (JSON-LD) as well, and AI quotes you more accurately.
What kind of writing is easy for AI to quote?
Use the question as the heading and answer it right away in the first sentence. For example, under the heading "How much does a lifting treatment cost at a dermatology clinic in OO-dong?", write "It starts from ○○ won and depends on the area treated." Then add the reasons and conditions. That's why every ISSYMO Insights article is written this way.
How to check
Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity the way a customer would, like "Recommend a ○○ in ○○-dong." If your shop doesn't come up, look at what's written on the websites of the shops that do. The answer is usually there. It won't change overnight; the more your writing builds up and the more you're mentioned elsewhere, the more often you'll appear.
AI quotes whoever answers most clearly. Being easy to read comes before being easy to see.
