Do I really need website maintenance?
It's not required, but if no one can look after the site in-house, it's cheaper to have it. Here's what maintenance includes and what happens without it.
Maintenance isn't required. But a website starts to age a little from the day it launches. Someone has to take care of security updates, domain and hosting renewals, broken links and changed opening hours, and if no one at your shop can do that, handing it over with a monthly subscription ends up cheaper. At ISSYMO it's KRW 50,000/month for Landing and from KRW 100,000/month for custom features, with no contract, and you can stop anytime.
What maintenance includes
- Hosting and domain renewal: we take care of it first so your site never goes down.
- Security and backup checks: put off updates and you get hacked; without backups you can't recover.
- Small edits: little jobs like changing opening hours, swapping photos or editing text.
- Monthly report: every month we sum up how often you appeared in search and AI.
What happens if you don't
Nothing happens right away. The trouble comes a few months later. Your domain expires and the website won't open, or an old plugin gets hacked and strange ads pop up, or an old price stays up and you end up arguing with customers. Fixing it in a rush then costs more than a subscription.
When you can do it yourself
If someone at your shop is good with computers and has time for a check once a month, you can do it yourself. When you sign the contract, confirm that you can receive the source code and content. That way you can do it yourself or hand it to someone else later. On the other hand, if you can't think of who would do it, a subscription is the right fit.
With a website, what really counts is not the day it's built but the 3 years after. Decide who will look after those 3 years.
