Naver Place
Naver Place is your business listing (address, opening hours, menu, reviews) that appears on Naver Map and in Naver Search.
It's your business's flag planted on Naver Map.
A little more detail
You can register your business and edit its information yourself in Naver Smart Place. Photos, menus, announcements and booking links are all managed there.
If your website and Naver Place show different opening hours or phone numbers, customers get confused, and search engines can't tell which one to trust.
If you link your website from Naver Place, customers browsing your listing will click through to your website for more details.
How do I register my business on Naver Place?
You apply for "New business registration" in Naver Smart Place. Any Naver member can apply for free, and your business registration certificate must be verified.
If someone has already registered your business, it's better not to create a new one. Claiming the existing listing through "Change owner" lets you keep the reviews and photos it has built up. With phone (ARS) verification on your main number, it switches right away; applying with documents can take up to 5 business days.
The help center says review of registrations and edits can take anywhere from 2 hours to 5 business days, and that a listing appears in search results about 3 hours after registration is complete. If the review comes back "on hold," fix the documents or info based on the reason given in the email and apply again.
Below is a summary of the process described by the Smart Place Help Center for business owners. Screen names and order can change, so check the help center's guide as you go.
- 01Log in to Smart Place with your Naver ID and go to "New business registration."
- 02Search for and select your business type using the "business item" on your business registration certificate or a word that best describes your business. Depending on the type, you may be asked for extra documents.
- 03Upload an image of your business registration certificate, or if you don't have one, verify your business info with your business registration number and a Naver certificate.
- 04If the same business already shows up as registered, don't create a new one; bring it into your ID through "Change owner."
- 05Enter the business name, phone number and address, and check that the map pin is in the right spot. Mobile numbers go through a verification code.
- 06After you apply, the review result is sent to the email in your Naver member profile. You can't edit basic info during review, so fill in extra info like photos and hours in the meantime.
What must I fill in on Smart Place?
Always fill in basic info like business name, business type, address and phone number, plus hours, days off, menu and prices, and photos. If what customers want to know before calling is missing, they won't ask; they'll tap another business.
You can add up to 5 main keywords that describe your business, such as menu items, services or products. They may be edited during review to fit Naver's writing guidelines, so focus on what you actually sell.
Also know that basic info is hard to change often. According to the help center, basic info such as business name, business type, main keywords, menu info and phone number can only be edited up to 5 times a week, and changes to business name, address, phone number or business type can take up to 5 business days to appear. Extra info usually updates within 2 hours to one day.
So when you first register, keep your master info document beside you and enter everything accurately in one go. The help center notes that content that doesn't meet the guidelines can be edited or removed through monitoring even after registration.

| Field | Why it matters | How to fill it in |
|---|---|---|
| Business name · Business type | Basic info used to judge whether you match the search | Exactly as on your sign and business registration certificate |
| Address · Map pin | Basis for distance and directions | Include building name and floor; check the pin is at the entrance |
| Hours · Days off | The info customers check most often | Include breaks and last order time; add temporary closures in advance |
| Main keywords | Words that describe your business (up to 5) | Mainly names of menu items and services you actually sell |
| Menu · Prices | What comparing customers base their decision on | Use the names customers use; update the same day prices change |
| Photos | Show atmosphere and cleanliness first | A good mix of exterior, interior and signature products |
| Website · Booking link | The next stop for customers who want to learn more | After registering, tap it yourself to make sure it opens |
How should I upload photos, menus and prices?
It's best to upload several photos yourself showing how your business looks now, and to list menu items and prices using the names customers use and the prices you actually charge. Naver's help center says images registered by the business owner appear first, followed by images automatically collected from places like blogs. You can't edit or delete auto-collected images, so it's important to set the first impression with photos you upload yourself.
The photos shown in search results also depend on how many you upload. According to Naver, if you upload only one, that photo and Street View appear; if you upload two or more, two of your photos may appear along with a news video or review photos.
Some business types, such as restaurants and hair salons, must enter at least one menu item or service. If your prices change often, write a base price with "from" and update it when it changes. Starting in September 2026, restaurants switched to grouping menu items into categories like lunch, dinner and drinks, and listing what's included in course menus. The input screen can change like this, so check Smart Place's guide every time you edit.
Hair salon service photos have their own rules. Photos with faces covered by mosaic or stickers, photos showing only the back of the head, brand catalog photos, and before-and-after photos combined into one image may be deleted, so upload photos of services actually done in your salon, taken from the front or side.
- Exterior: show the sign and entrance together, in daylight
- Interior: exactly as seen from a customer's seat
- Signature menu items or work: close up, as actually served
- Prices: the base price plus the conditions for extra charges
When should I use features like booking, TalkTalk and coupons?
Use them when booking or inquiry calls are more than you can handle, or when you want to give customers a reason to come back. Available features vary by business type and timing, so go by the menus you see in Smart Place.
It's better to turn on only what you can keep responding to than to turn on lots of features. If you turn on TalkTalk and reply slowly, it actually makes the customer experience worse. You connect TalkTalk from your business screen in Smart Place, and cancel it in the TalkTalk Partner Center.
You apply for Naver Booking from Smart Place's "Booking · Order" menu. If you already use another booking service, just link that booking page or your website address in Place. What matters is that customers can see how to book right from Place.
Only businesses whose Place listing is showing normally can create coupons, and up to 10 coupons can be shown in the same period. News posts can stay up for up to 45 days, with up to 5 at a time. Business types with legal restrictions, such as hospitals and clinics, may not get coupon or news features.
Set TalkTalk and booking alerts to go to your phone so you miss fewer of them. If you can't reply right away, it also helps to let customers know in advance that replies may be slower outside business hours.

How do I connect Naver Place and my website?
Put your website in the website address field of your Smart Place business info, and write the same basic info on your website as on Place so the two link to each other. The name, address, phone and hours need to match in both places for customers and search engines to recognize them as the same business.
Place is where customers glance and decide; your website is where they compare in detail. Keep just the essentials on Place and put longer explanations, like your service process, class curriculum and FAQs, on your website, so the two don't overlap.
It also helps to build a path in the other direction. Put a Naver Map directions link next to the "Directions" section on your website, and customers who found your website can get directions right away.
If you run a Naver Blog, you can use "Connect blog news" in the Smart Place solutions to show your blog posts in Place's News tab. According to the help center, you can choose a category with at least 1 post written in the last 6 months and at least 3 posts in total, and it updates within a day after you save.
If you add UTM tags to the website address in Place, you can see separately in GA4 whether customers who came through Place went on to book or inquire on your website.
Is there a way to boost my Naver Place ranking?
There's no set shortcut, and what Naver recommends is close to the basics: fill in your info accurately and thoroughly. Naver says it ranks listings by weighing how closely the info matches the search, how popular the business and its category are, distance, and how complete the info is, but it doesn't publish the detailed formula.
What you can do is keep your info up to date and help reviews and photos from real customers build up. The help center says that using features like news, booking, TalkTalk, coupons, blog connection and review replies builds up data on your business info and raises your chances of being shown.
It's safest not to hire companies that promise to raise your ranking with fake visits or fake reviews. Naver treats inflating clicks with multiple accounts or programs, and making fake bookings and then canceling, as abuse, and it also calls fake reviews written for rewards or asking for a specific star rating abnormal activity. If visitor review manipulation is confirmed even once, all of that business's reviews may be hidden.
If you want more visibility, the right way is Naver's official ad products, which are marked "Ad." Ads get you visibility in proportion to what you pay, but they're clearly labeled, and when you stop the ads, that visibility stops too. Know this before you start.
What should I check when my Naver Place ranking drops?
First check whether you searched from the same place with the same search terms as last time, and whether anything in your business info changed. Naver says search results update several times a day and the order can change at any time, so it's hard to pin down a cause from a change over a day or two.
It's better to go by Smart Place statistics than by the ranking screen. Checking whether visits and traffic keywords actually dropped tells you whether fewer customers are really coming in or only the display order changed.
Even if someone contacts you offering to "get your ranking back up," don't rush. Artificially inflating clicks or reviews can cost you more than the drop in ranking did.
Here's a made-up example. The owner of Golmok Kkeut Coffee ("End of the Alley Coffee"), a small cafe on a Yeonnam-dong side street, felt the cafe had slipped down in "Yeonnam-dong cafe" searches. The statistics showed overall visits were about the same, but fewer customers were coming in through the keyword "Yeonnam-dong dessert."
Looking closer, the owner had changed the seasonal desserts, removed the old ones from the menu list and hadn't added the new ones yet. The owner added the new desserts to the menu with photos and prices, posted a news notice about this month's desserts, and then watched the same searches and statistics for a few weeks. This is a made-up example to show the order of checks; it doesn't mean the same steps will lead to the same results.
- 01Search again with the same terms from the same place a few days apart to see if it's just a temporary change.
- 02Compare visits and traffic keywords in Smart Place statistics with last month.
- 03Check whether you recently changed your business name, business type, address or main keywords, and whether any edits are still under review.
- 04Check that your hours, temporary closures, menu and prices are current, and that your photos aren't outdated.
- 05Skim your recent reviews and replies, and check for unanswered reviews or repeated complaints.
- 06Also check whether a new business of the same type opened nearby, and whether searches for your terms dropped with the season.
- 07If you still can't find the cause, read the search visibility help in the Smart Place Help Center for business owners and contact them.
What are common mistakes in managing Naver Place?
The most common one is entering info carefully at registration and never touching it again. Customers trust Place info as how the business is "right now," so outdated info can do more harm than no info.
Hours in particular are the info customers check most often. Add the times customers often ask about, like the lunch break and last order time, and you'll get fewer phone inquiries.
When you update your info, update your website and the other maps on the same day. If only Place changes and the others stay the same, customers have to call to check which one is right.
- Not posting temporary closures for holidays or vacations, so customers show up at a closed door
- Registering under an employee's or former agency's ID, so you can't log in yourself
- Uploading the same photo over and over, or using images that look like another business
- Copying the exact same sentence into every review reply
- Leaving the old link on Place after your website or Instagram address changes
How should I set up Naver Place for my type of business?
Hair salons should split their service menu into the names customers search for, like cut, perm and color, and link photos and booking for each stylist so customers can choose easily. Cafes should put signature menu photos, seating photos, parking and whether pets are allowed up front.
Craft studios should separate one-day classes from regular classes and list the duration, what to bring and group size. Academies should make target grades, subjects and how to get a consultation clear, and posting info sessions or enrollment schedules in News helps parents not miss the dates.
Whatever your business, it's better to post News regularly, even if it's short. Leave a line whenever there's a change customers need to know about, like closures, new menu items or enrollment deadlines, and you'll give the impression that your business is active and well run.
The fields Place requires can differ by business type. Don't skip any field marked as required on the registration screen, and fill in optional fields one by one, starting with what customers ask about most.
For example
- Hair salon: post photos and prices for each stylist on Naver Place, and link to the website for detailed service information.
- Cafe: post a closing notice in Naver Place news, and customers checking the map will see it right away.
Just check these
- You've completed owner verification in Smart Place
- Opening hours, closed days and phone number match your website
- Your website address is added
